Angry
I had quite an angry day today. Frankly, I probably shouldn't even be publishing this. Perhaps by the time I'm done writing I'll have got it out of my system. Perhaps not. We'll see.
My dad's been cheating on my mom for years. Sadly, I knew. I had various indications, and someone outside the family, and outside his & the other cheater's (who's also married with a kid) workplace, someone rather random, approached me about behavior he'd observed in public years ago, for an extended period of time. How friggin' embarrassing. And how friggin' stupid on my supposedly smart dad's part.
The kicker here is now my dad's trying to lie about it ... on the eve of his and his sales manager's departure for two nights in Paris prior to a sales conference in Germany. Which he tried to write off as the inability to get a connecting flight, so they had to "stop" in Paris and catch a train. Lame. Your itinerary tells the truth.
This is one of many trips they've made outside the country together, doing sales work for his existing upstate NY business, and setting up another venture in China. One of many trips where I'd call and they'd be in the same room, getting _dressed_ & ready for dinner in what to me seemed like an uncomfortable scenario. Sometimes one or the other was noted as being fresh out of the shower. At other times, in person, my dad was practically bragging about it with his mannerisms and speech. Scumbag. I already knew before you had to "tell" me. Quit acting like a frat boy.
My "dad" was never much of a "dad" frankly. An anxiety-ridden, abrasive and variously abusive asshole is more like it. (Hrmm, sound familiar?)
The man couldn't be bothered to: give his sons the birds & the bees talk. Teach his sons how to shave. Show up at my high school football games. (Heck, I only started playing football after encouragement from a neighbor. Whose ex-wife I'm pretty confident my dad also slept with. Not sure if there was any overlap there or not.) Have any of the typical dad talks with us. Show the slightest bit of pride in any of us. In other words, he couldn't be bothered to actually be a dad, beyond providing the basic necessities of life so as to avoid embarrassment among his family or society.
And now, Mr. Morals reached out to local IT firms (previously he would abuse his sons into doing the work for him to save money, after shopping aforementioned IT firms) to have incriminating emails and IMs deleted. That's right: Albany/upstate IT firms, requests from Precision Extrusion, Inc. of Glens Falls at the moment are very likely illegal or disingenuous in nature or intent. Beware.
He also fired my youngest brother, who'd been working for him for years by this point -- for "trying to bring the company down." My brother discovered IMs and emails earlier this week that he felt forced to reveal to my mother, which brought on the blowup. EEOC violations anybody?
How friggin' classy. What a jerk. I've known he's an ass for years, I just can't believe the ways it's manifesting itself now. Scumbag.
Nope, still not out of my system.
